Imagination Playground
Facilities:
Imagination Playground at Burling Slip (‘IP’) opened on July 27, 2010. The area is near the South Street Seaport, aka Downtown, aka the Financial District. IP describes itself as “a breakthrough playspace concept designed to encourage child-directed, unstructured free play.” It fits on the back of a business card. It’s aspirational. Is it the best playground ever, or is it just a playground?

Short answer: we like it, but it should have a Danger sign out front, and I would not be surprised if an enterprising personal injury lawyer already set up shop in the Burling Slip area specifically because of it.

5 Boro Bike Tour 2010

For 33 years the 5 Boro Bike Tour has wound its way through NYC streets and bridges on the first Sunday of May. Riders follow a 42 mile route (map) that starts in Battery Park, heads north through Central Park up into the Bronx, comes back down the FDR and across the Queensboro Bridge into Queens, then heads up to Astoria Park before turning south through Brooklyn and finally proceeds across the Verrazano Bridge to Staten Island. Riders then hop on the Staten Island Ferry back to Battery Park.

20.5” of heavy wet snow blanketed Central Park and made for some excellent sledding last weekend. Inspired by the USA 1 Four Man Bobsledding gold medal the iParks NY Park Test Team sets out for Pilgrim Hill in Central Park to begin training for Sochi 2014...and beyond!
